Zamora Family

This fall,  Empowerment High School inducted fifty-four students into National Honor Society. This is the largest number of students in the history of Southwest Schools! Not only do these students exemplify Scholarship, Leadership, Character and Service, they all boast GPAs above 3.0.

One of those students, Gissel Zamora, was joined by her mother, Veronica Zamora. Ms. Zamora shared that she felt very happy and expressed, "The teachers here have helped my daughter become excellent in school. When we moved here seven years ago, I chose Southwest because I wanted a smaller school where it felt like a family. I knew with the teachers, God and the entire district, my daughter would grow into a beautiful young woman and have a chance to go to college."

Gissel credits her mom and teachers for her success. She thanked Ms. Hernandez, Ms. Amous and Mr. Garcia for making her feel comfortable in U.S. schools and having her best interest at heart.

Following suit, Discovery Middle School inducted seven 8th graders into National Junior Honor Society, and they will induct seventh graders in the spring. Mangum Elementary inducted seventeen students into the National Elementary Honor Society.
