Angela Segura holds a Bachelor's degree in Teaching and Learning from the University of Houston and has built a strong foundation in education through diverse experiences. She began her teaching career with the Houston Independent School District (HISD) before transitioning to her current role as a dedicated 6th and 7th-grade reading and writing teacher at LGSA, Southwest Public Schools. Ms. Segura is deeply passionate about education and committed to instilling a lifelong love of learning in her students.
Beyond her classroom experience, Ms. Segura has actively demonstrated significant leadership for the past two consecutive summers as the Dean of Faculty for Breakthrough Houston, a non-profit organization. In this demanding role, she was responsible for the comprehensive training, support, and supervision of college-level teaching fellows. This included developing and delivering professional development, conducting regular faculty observations to ensure effective instruction, providing consistent mentorship, and fostering a positive and productive learning environment for both the teaching fellows and the underserved middle school students they served.
As the Campus Summer School Principal, Ms. Segura is eager to leverage her experience in teacher development, instructional support, and fostering a positive learning culture to create a dynamic and impactful summer program. She is committed to supporting both students and faculty, ensuring a successful and enriching experience for everyone involved. Furthermore, Ms. Segura will prioritize creating a safe, well-maintained, and conducive school environment where students can thrive academically and develop a continued enthusiasm for learning.
